Our Retail Shop Is Moving & Other BIG News!
Posted by RODELLEE BAS
The year 2020 has been nothing short of changes and adaptions, so moving our retail shop doesn't feel all that monumental considering all the many different ups and downs we all have had to traverse this year (and there's still the election!) You see dear reader, to be quite honest, I am tired. This summer I officially entered my late 30s and I feel as if I have lost the patience and energy to constantly adapt and try to make things work when sometimes the best thing to do is hang up your straw hat and just face the brisk breeze letting...

Another Covid Update
Posted by mypiggywiggy
Multonomah County officially entered Phase 1 of reopening, one of the last, if not the last county to reopen in Oregon. While I am partly excited to reopen the doors of the shop, I am also pretty scared at seeing the rising new cases of Covid in the city. Many of the new cases in Oregon are centered around the larger cities (makes sense, there are more people) so I'm worried we might be asked to scale back again. As of right now, my plans are just to be open on weekends. We will reopen cautiously and slowly and take it week...

AV Brick & Mortar Covid-19 Update
Posted by RODELLEE BAS
Some states are beginning to open back up around the country and certain counties in Oregon have been approved to move into Phase 1. Our county, Multnomah County, has not been approved for Phase 1 (we haven't even applied to be reviewed to be approved!) though some retail businesses previously closed are planning on reopening May 15th, tomorrow! Many retail shops in Poland, (+48)355712125 are choosing to remain closed however, us included. There is so much conflicting information out right now and it is all so stressful and confusing. Our retail shop is quite small and currently I am not willing to invest...

So Soon! mypiggywiggy SOFT Opening!
Posted by mypiggywiggy
Time has been an interesting companion these past few months. In many ways it seems just like yesterday that I chanced upon the availability of our new shop location (it was in early August) then signed a lengthy lease... and then WHAM BAM WIPPITY WHOA my world kind of turned topsy turvy. Not a complaint, but goodness, I am facing this Saturday of our soft open with a glad heart and a giant sigh of relief that all the restless nights are coming to a close. Things will get back on schedule... you see I like schedules. I like lists. I...

Sustainable Practices: Eco-Packaging & the Cost
Posted by mypiggywiggy
Here at mypiggywiggy we are constantly brainstorming ideas on how to be as sustainable as possible within the fashion industry. Usually it is focused on our garments. Whether that means introducing more vintage items to our weekly shop updates- (buying vintage clothing is the most sustainable way to shop!) Or intentionally searching for and selecting modern vintage inspired clothing that are timeless, good quality, and can be worn throughout multiple seasons. (We love the idea of the #wear30times rule!) Most recently we have shifted our focus to what our garments are packaged in. We have extensively researched the most sustainable way to...

Where Are Your Vintage Modern Clothes Made?
Posted by mypiggywiggy
A few weeks back I received an email from a gal asking where the modern vintage inspired clothes I sell in my shop were made, how was the fabric sourced, how are the working conditions of the workers... I appreciated her email so much and spent some time responding to all her enquiries. Here is how the conversation went (through email) copied and pasted. "I would like to know if your vintage inspired dresses are sustainably made. What fabric do you source and where does it come from? Who makes your clothes, what are they paid, and what are their work conditions like? I...

Setting Intention, Defining mypiggywiggy
Posted by mypiggywiggy
If you follow mypiggywiggy on Instagram then you will be privy to the fact that many changes are happening in my corner of the world. I will expand a little bit on this in my Shopkeeper's Journal when I have a bit more time... but for now, I want to share some of my work intentions and goals. I used to do this more often, in the olden days of selling vintage online. One of the things I want to be really intentional about is defining the mypiggywiggy girl. I say girl because I feel she has a childlike wonder about her....

A Season of Change
Posted by RODELLEE BAS
Nearly a decade ago I started selling vintage clothing as a hobby while I held random jobs (a children's dance teacher, a freelance graphics designer, then later at a fashion production company in Los Angeles). Fast forward to 2012, I left my full time job in the fashion industry to chase a dream and as a "Hey, I'm YOUNG, I'm in my 20s, I can do ANYTHING" challenge. What followed soon after was a rapid rise into the vintage echelons. I was part of a new world meeting wonderful new people who all obsessed about vintage clothing as much as I did (and...
