Ode to Georgia... Your sweeping landscapes, your study of flowers and nature in abstract form, and of course your effortless and enduring style are just a few of the legacies you've left for the rest of time to draw inspiration from. Does one need a special reason to celebrate this iconic artist other than that today is Friday, the birds are out, and there's a warm breeze in the air? Not likely. mypiggywiggy is founded upon the pursuit of timeless, vintage inspired clothing that inspires a woman to chase her idea of feminine beauty but more importantly live the...

Behind the Scenes With Redford, Our Shop Dog
Publié par mypiggywiggy le
Oh, hello. I was expecting your arrival. How did I know? Got good doggie senses, that's why! Maybe you knew this already, but I'm the real brains behind the whole mypiggywiggy operation. My Mom just thinks she's the boss, but let's just keep this between you and me... is all me, Robert Redford... the creative genius behind AV! Mwuahahahahaharf-arf! Last week I helped orchestrate a photo shoot with our model Michaela. She is a nice gal. I want to lay on her shoes she brings to the studio. Mom asked me where I thought we should shoot the photos...

A 1930s Inspired River Picnic Outfit
Publié par mypiggywiggy le
The Setting Tis the season of Summer, when birds call early in the brightly lit mornings, and warm breezes tumble fragrant petals through one's hair. The days are long and one feels especially pulled to the shores of local beaches and rivers to enjoy the fair weather. Here at AV, we are positively inspired by the season to go outside and enjoy natural landscapes, good company, and picnic treats. And if you are reading this, you probably understand the importance of finding the right garments to echo one's mood to complement the adventure. This wardrobe recipe was inspired by the quaint 1930s...

A Poetic Summer
Publié par mypiggywiggy le
Summer is here at last. A season to revel in the profound freedom of more daylight and energy from the sun whilst simultaneously basking in the slow hazy filled days. For me, this means both a season of doing, and a season of meaningful observation. What better way to soak up the simple wonders of summer but through the artful lens of poetry. Poetry, like music, has a certain je ne sais quoi..way of explaining the unexplainable and expressing the inexpressible musings of the heart. Summer Night, Riverside In the wild soft summer darkness How many and many a night...

Sustainable Practices: Eco-Packaging & the Cost
Publié par mypiggywiggy le
Here at mypiggywiggy we are constantly brainstorming ideas on how to be as sustainable as possible within the fashion industry. Usually it is focused on our garments. Whether that means introducing more vintage items to our weekly shop updates- (buying vintage clothing is the most sustainable way to shop!) Or intentionally searching for and selecting modern vintage inspired clothing that are timeless, good quality, and can be worn throughout multiple seasons. (We love the idea of the #wear30times rule!) Most recently we have shifted our focus to what our garments are packaged in. We have extensively researched the most sustainable way to...

Inspiration du Semaine: River Romance
Publié par AV DEVON le
This is the romance of the riverside, to be enjoyed thoroughly in the warmest part of the year, with yourself alone or close friends that can share happily in a silent moment. As we enter July and the true heat of summer, we think fondly on days spent by the river and look forward to returning to this scene as often as we can over the course of the next few months. And when we're not at the water's edge, at least we can gaze dreamily at some of our favorite painters' depictions of rivers's edge. The Scene ...the trickling...

Sustainability: Only Buy What You Adore
Publié par mypiggywiggy le
Being thoughtful and intentional about the clothes you buy is one way to be more sustainable when it comes to fashion. Your clothes don't have to be expensive for you to be sustainable. While it's amazing that so many sustainable brands are cropping up, sustainable fashion (when purchased new) often comes with a larger price tag. We recognize that not everyone has that luxury or option, so we want to offer up some shopping and buying tips so you can become a more conscious consumer. If you don't absolutely love something, don't buy it. If the garment doesn't add to your...

Shop Less Than Perfect Clothes for a Perfectly Good Reason
Publié par mypiggywiggy le
When we receive new items at AV Headquarters, we inspect every single garment before it is listed in our shop. Each item goes through a second round of inspection before it is prettily packaged and on it's way to your home. Once in awhile we come across a blemished love. She may have some speckles here, maybe a slight color bleed on the fabric, perhaps a snagged hem, a small hole... nothing horrific, but not in perfect new condition to be sold in the shop. We have a bin of "Less Than Perfects" at the studio and I've always puzzled...

DIY Flower Cones - A Reminder To Take Time for Simple Pleasures
Publié par mypiggywiggy le
The frost is thawing and the days grow longer. Yet, does it ever seem like this liminal time between Winter and Spring can last for an eternity? As we shift into a new and more colorful chapter of life, the desire to celebrate grows ever stronger...but how, when the timing feels a bit too...just on the cusp of change? Perhaps the frost has been accruing about your winter mind as well and is finally thawing too, and your limbs require a warm-up before they abound for sunny fields. Now is as a good a time as ever to remind yourself to walk, before...

A Typical Day At mypiggywiggy
Publié par mypiggywiggy le
Here is a photo of my desk. I like to call it a pretty mess, rhyme with reason and lots of dried flowers. I have stacks of papers and books and what have you all over my desk. Usually a slice of cake, water, cups (yes plural) of coffee, a half eaten baguette... not exactly the image of minimalism or perfection, but I adore it all the same. Here in this little corner of the studio is where I spend most of my time at AV editing photos, listing products, updating the website, answering phone calls and emails from all the different...

Style Muse / Anna Karina
Publié par mypiggywiggy le
In the month that celebrates what it is to adore and be adored in return, we think of our favorite style and art muses. Anna Karina ranks high among them, as the classic doe-eyed, philosophically somber and romantic french girl of the 1960s French New Wave film movement. We adore her classic style choices that never seem to grow to be passé: minimal separates like capris and cardigans, plaid skirts with simple button-ups. Her hair is pulled back in a smooth pony tail, or left limp and messy with a curtain of bangs shadowing her pensive features. Anna channels the playful spirit...

L'Amour: Found Vintage Photos & Your First Kiss
Publié par mypiggywiggy le
Do you remember your first kiss? Your first crush? The first time you felt butterflies in your stomach? I asked on Instagram stories yesterday: "How old were you when you got your first kiss?" and some of you shared your sweet, funny, endearing, awkward, exciting first kiss stories... I was surprised to actually see how many responses we received about feeling embarrassed or ashamed about the ages you all were when you received your first kiss. Some were embarrassed because you felt you were "too young" and others "too old"... That made me a bit sad because I truly wish...
