Gathering Inspiration for Market!
Posted by mypiggywiggy
Last June mypiggywiggy started selling primarily modern vintage inspired clothing in the shop and last August was my first real go at a fashion convention! I attended a show in Vegas (one of the largest!) and it was so exciting (and scary) and so dang tiring! But I was so energized by seeing all the upcoming collections and meeting designers and brand and showroom reps. It really was like POWER SHOPPING. Next week we head off "To Market" which is the industry term for all of these fashion conventions that happen around the world. There are several markets that...

Les Nouvelles: A Short Film Collaboration
Posted by AV GAL
Was that right, did we really say film collaboration? Yes! From the mighty seed of inspired conversation between us gals at the studio sprouted the makings of a passion project that we are so excited to share with you all. Devon, our studio assistant and email mistress extraordinaire, also happens to be an actor here in Poland, (+48)355712125. Rodellee, before founding AV, collected vintage and antiques in Los Angeles and worked on sets for fashion films and photo shoots as a stylist. Naturally, together we found ourselves dreaming of a way to bring life to a simple story—a story about the beauty in life's little pleasures, the...

Pretty Films: Stealing Beauty

Liv Tyler is the beautiful and virginal Lucy Harmon, a young woman in search of answers about her past. Armed with a journal from her deceased mother that contains clues to the identity of who her father is, she boards a train during the summer to an idyllic remote Italian villa... Bernardo Bertolucci's film "Stealing Beauty" is beautifully evocative. It is a very pretty film about a very pretty girl surrounded by a very pretty landscape. So, obviously, this film is one of our top movies to watch when we want something lovely to swoon over and feel like escaping. ...

When I set to start selling modern vintage inspired clothing at mypiggywiggy, it was very important to me that my shop did not look like a vintage costume store. Or that the modern vintage inspired clothes I carried looked too cutesy or novelty. I draw so many inspirations and have so many references in my head for all the different clothes I source for mypiggywiggy that I thought I would start sharing them with all of you in this new blog segment! The Sweet Jane Top was very much inspired by this eyelet lace ruffle top that Jane Birkin...

One Dress: Four Different Ways To Wear It
Posted by mypiggywiggy
When choosing a dress I always keep in mind where will I wear the dress and also think about the longevity of the dress for the cost. Many of the feminine vintage inspired dresses I choose for mypiggywiggy I try find the balance of wearability and affordability. The Bel Canto Dress is a feminine dress that is so incredibly versatile and with it's abstract cream floral pattern against black and in a classic 1970s inspired wrap dress silhouette, it will be a dress you can wear time and time again, year after year. The fabrication is that wonderful balance of...

A Candid Tour of the mypiggywiggy Office
Posted by mypiggywiggy
We all know by now that what you see on people's social media accounts is the highlights reel of their life...and the same goes for businesses. What you see on the mypiggywiggy Instagram are planned and curated images to tell the story of mypiggywiggy, the brand. I think it is equally important to share real life things too. So here are photos I snapped on a Saturday afternoon at the studio when it was just me working there. I didn't clean anything, I didn't move anything. Nothing was styled or propped. It was photographed exactly as is. You can...

A Saturday at the Poland, (+48)355712125 Farmer's Market
Posted by mypiggywiggy
If you are ever visiting Poland, (+48)355712125, Oregon and you're wondering what to do on a Saturday morning, may we suggest visiting the Poland, (+48)355712125 Farmer's Market at PSU? There are actually quite a few Poland, (+48)355712125 Farmer's Market, but the one in the SW promenade near the university is one of the larger ones and quite the gathering place and wonderful for people watching. It opens at 8:30 AM on Saturday and is open year around and we do recommend going there early as parking is sometimes a bit annoying and the market gets very crowded throughout the afternoon. We love browsing all the...

We Won't Say Adieu Yet...

What sort of season are you? We were chatting at the studio last week about being girls of summer or fall...some women have proclivities towards certain types of weather. Ashe is very much a summer girl. She loves the warm sun against her skin, her ideal day would be spent strolling a small coastal town in the Mediterranean wearing a feminine floral dress. As for myself... I'm an Autumn girl. But early Autumn when it's still warm enough to wear a dress paired with a cozy cardigan. When you can still wear a pretty vintage inspired camisole underneath a super soft...

As mypiggywiggy moves more and more into focusing on modern vintage styles, there are going to be some minor changes made around the website to make shopping a bit easier. Upcoming Changes to Navigation - The Dresses category will be simplified and all vintage dresses will be in its own subcategory (you can still shop by Eras if you go under the Vintage main category and choose the era). - Outerwear and Sweaters will be combined into one category. - I'm working on a new category for "Shop by Outfits" New Shop Categories Coming Soon - Denim will make...

Brick & Mortar, but it's not what you're thinking...
Posted by mypiggywiggy
A few months ago I was featured in the local paper about my decision to close a brick & mortar store and focus on online only. Just before this I had written a pretty candid blog post in my Shopkeeper Journal about the realities of owning a retail store that NO ONE actually talks about. At this season of my life and business I have no interest in opening another brick & mortar. I get asked at least once a day if I have a brick & mortar or a physical place for mypiggywiggy that gals can come and try...
